In times of darkness… will you embrace the light?
The Light and the Darkness

The Summer Solstice is fast approaching here in the northern hemisphere, which means we are inching forward toward the longest day of the year. As the light stretches a little further each day, I can feel my energy rising with it.
Nature is bursting into full bloom, the lush, green growth thriving on the increase in resources, humming right along with the song “We Have More Light and Water Now”...it is an ancient one, sung throughout the millennia by the natural world.
We would be wise to ride this wave and embrace the light as well to counterbalance the darkness and exhausting challenges in our daily lives – bombarding us in an attempt to drown out the voices of reason, kindness, grounded intelligence and integrity.
When the world throws chaos our way, we need to root ourselves deeper and open more fully to the light.
As we stand tall and grounded, the roar of the sensationalist mainstream media starts to fade in comparison with the powerful hum of life itself.
As we reach deep within the earth, co-mingling our roots of awareness with the trees and all rooted beings, we begin to notice that what lies beneath us is far more powerful and life-affirming than the empty cacophony that the current administration is purposefully creating in an attempt to destroy democracy.
If we start seeing through the blatantly false propaganda machine of social media (if we ever believed it) we are far ahead of the game.
And if we widen our gaze, we begin to notice that we are in a cycle, just like nature, and that our presence, our voices and our integrity are being called upon right now. Each of us called to make a difference in our own way.
But how do we keep ourselves from being disheartened by all we see?
Closing your eyes and pretending everything is fine is not the answer. If you are deeply empathic like I am, then, yes, turn off the mainstream news – do not watch it or listen to it.
Gather your information from trusted, factual integrous sources like Heather Cox Richardson. As a highly intelligent historian and professor she reminds us regularly that we have weathered storms like this before – that this is not new, and it is conceivably repairable.
And speaking of history, I grew up on the front pew of a Baptist church, where everyone is “redeemable in the eyes of the Lord.” It was a shock to realize that this is not true – there are always going to be those who want power at any cost – trampling the needs of the vulnerable among us, the environment, and anyone without the same color skin and religion.
These folks don’t need prayer circles to help their souls suddenly wake up and realize how far wrong they have gone.
They need to be reined in and stopped.
Championing the energy of love and deep connection between us as the core source of life itself, requires that we recognize the fact that the current administration is fueled by a false story that they “know what is best” - and we must either comply or be destroyed and thrown aside as some useless trash in their path to dominance.
It is such a bad story that even many of those originally entranced by the propaganda and the lies are starting to wake up.
The court battles to stop the unlawful insanity being perpetuated against many of us are being won all over the country (75 and counting). Peaceful protests (no, they are not violent riots) are growing in almost every part of the country. People in many vital roles in the government are quietly being rehired.
But we have to look in different places for this information because the mainstream media and social media are spinning webs of adrenaline pumping lies about what is happening...and to keep it loud and violent so we cannot take our eyes off it to find our center again.
However, if we slow down and root ourselves, diving deep into the earth and allowing this rich unconditional resource to fill our inner energy reservoirs, new information and possibilities show up.
Someone tells us about a peaceful protest and it feels right to do it.
When we have factual information to counteract the lies being perpetuated on social media, we respond (along with hopefully many others) debunking the verbal garbage being spewed into the internet space, thus taking back the narrative and driving the truth home.
Help someone in need or stand up and protect someone who is vulnerable and being bullied.
Bombard those in congress with our thoughts and needs (keep that one, god-awful bill from passing) as our voices are heard.
All of these actions and more can happen if we remember who we are – what we stand for – and the resources we have available on a moment-to-moment basis.
I have continued to offer free 15-minute, Ground and Fill opportunities – live and recorded online at 8am M-W-F. Others have joined me in leading these wonderful community gatherings and they are rich, refueling times for all of us.
If this speaks to you, please come join us. Sign up and if you can’t make it on the day, the recording will be sent to you to listen to it later.
Much love to you all in these “interesting” times!
