Entering the Summer with Grace and Ease…aka Avoiding a Hot Mess

June 2023

As June unfolds in the northern hemisphere, we are stepping into longer, warmer days, and the increase in energy they naturally bring. In Chinese medicine it is the season of the element of Fire – and this resource is more available now to all who know how to harness it and get into its flow.

Fire is the element of the heart and cardiovascular system – fueling your cells, lighting up your thinking and catalyzing your Soul’s inspiration.

In summer it is easier to access than any other time of year, helping you find all the energy you need to jump in and take action in your world, your life’s endeavors, and your inspirations.

When this powerful element is out of balance - to put it simply – it’s a hot mess.

Someone with too much fire may experience themselves “burning out of control” - often feeling anxious, feverish in their pace as they careen through their life. Unable to slow down long enough to reflect and take wise actions, they may often find themselves wrapped up in trauma dramas and creating more of it in their lives by their reactivity.

The other end of this imbalance is someone with a distinct, powerful dampener on their inner fire – causing them to feel paralyzed and unable to move forward in their lives. Even as they stew inwardly, too afraid to take a step, they may periodically throw off sparks at those around them, harshly and negatively judging themselves and others.

Both fire imbalances are problematic to thriving in life.

Both fire imbalances are calling for you to bring in more grounding and more embodiment deep in your bones.

How can these return us to the balance that will help us thrive and harness the plentiful, creative energy available right now?

When our fire is raging out of control, the primary antidote is to ground yourself. Move into deeper embodiment in your legs and feet and on down into the earth beneath you. Think of what occurs when lightning strikes a tree that has no lightning rod – no ground. What happens? The tree is fried. With a lightning rod the current moves on through and the tree remains strong.

Grounding through our legs and feet enables us to establish deep roots that can sustain us in times of turbulence, challenges and extreme stress.

There is a short free Grounding Meditation/Exploration on my website. It gives you a simple, step-by-step method to drop in, connect and fill your inner energy reservoir so you can contact your Inner Wisdom anytime, anywhere.

And the Wisdom in our bones?

They are our innermost sanctum. And, as the sturdiest form of connective tissue in the body they provide structure for everything else.

One of the primary characteristics that the deep wisdom in our bones imparts to us, is that sense of steadiness and safety. This means emotional overwhelm calms down and we can start to think more clearly.

The other characteristic wisdom is how embodiment in our bones helps us quiet the incessant chatter of the mind and allows clarity to emerge when chaos and self-judgment are reigning in our lives.

There is a Bone Deep Wisdom Meditation/Exploration that accompanies my second book, Reclaiming Your Body: Healing from Trauma and Awakening to Your Body’s Wisdom. Please make use of this powerful resource. If you already own a copy of my book, click on the button below and follow the instructions to Download the Audio Explorations.

So, if you are careening through life with an excess of fire energy, finding yourself bouncing from one trauma-drama to the next… then slowing down, changing course and embodying in these two Wisdom Areas offers a powerful antidote. You can more easily steady your system as your inner clarity emerges.

And what if you are feeling the opposite? Your fire is tamped down to the point where you cannot seem to move – and your inner guidance feels negative and perhaps muddy. In a different way, these very same Wisdom Areas can help guide you home.

By grounding and filling your energy can return and flow through you in a healthy way. And remember, grounding and filling can include movement and breath that fills your inner energy reservoir, too!

Then the deep quiet of your inner sanctum can help you start to hear what is truly needed for you to move beyond the stuckness and take your next steps.

In my own life, I have been hearing an inner call to slow down, take some time to go inward and get clear about my next steps at a Soul level.

What about you? What does your Soul need at this moment in time?
