Remembering What is Important
Tonight I want to take my hat off to Rick Hanson, author and speaker, about his reminders for this time of the year. He speaks about how having a happy holiday is not about looking perfect, having the perfect decorations or gifts, or cookies. It is truly “…about how to avoid becoming too attached to fixed ideas of how things need to be. By simply focusing on the essentials (for example, the point of the holidays being taking time off, relaxing, being with loved ones, generosity and gratitude), there is no anxiety about a less than perfect dough, or finding the absolutely perfect gift. Instead, there’s a profound sense of connection with all things, and a welcome peace.
So let’s all do our best to remember what is most important as we move into this wonderful season. And, enjoy!
