Into the Magic Shop by Jim Doty
Two weeks ago a colleague shared about how she had met Dr. Jim Doty at a local book signing event for his recently published book “Into the Magic Shop”. She recommended the book and for some reason I ordered it that minute. It was such a fascinating story that I read it almost in one sitting – quite a feat for me!
Jim Doty is the director of the Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education (CCARE) at Stanford University. In this marvelous book he shares his story of struggling with abject poverty and repeated traumas, yet going on to become a world-class brain surgeon, gaining and losing a fortune, and learning the hard way all the lessons about living from the heart.
His message is profound and yet simply and clearly written. His story is extraordinary and inspiring. Bravo to you, Jim!
