Honoring Dr. John Upledger

Yesterday was Dr. John Upledger’s birthday. As many of you know, he was a MAJOR mentor of mine and I will always be grateful to him for his work and his life. It has given me opportunities I would never have had without him. In his honor I am sharing an email that I just received from the Upledger Institute and Foundation. In it, they are sharing a retrospective that I did about Dr. Upledger at our international conference in 2012. It has not previously been available to the public, so take a look and enjoy!

DrJohnUpledgerIn honor of our innovative and inspirational founder, Dr. John E. Upledger,
we have decided to designate his birthday,

This year, Dr. John would have turned 84 and we thought it fitting to share with you heartwarming tributes from two of his earliest students who became Upledger CranioSacral Therapy Instructors and Ombudsmen. Both Chas Perry, PhD, CST-D and Suzanne Scurlock-Durana, CMT, CST-D knew Dr. John as a man, friend, therapist, teacher, founder and developer of our programs. These are presentations they gave at our 2012 Beyond the Dura Conference. These videos, Suzanne Scurlock-Durana: Upledger Retrospective and Chas Perry: The Essence of Upledger, have not been previously available for general viewing. However in honor of his birthday and our decision to designate this as Founder’s Day, we wanted to share them with you.

So sit back and enjoy these tributes and bits of nostalgia for a short trip down a memory lane that will leave you inspired and proud to be part of such an incredible legacy.

As you may know, the Dr. John E. Upledger Foundation was formed to help support his overall therapeutic philosophies and visions. These include:

  • Providing treatment for those in need
  • Continuing to building awareness and recognition for the work through research and innovative pilot programs such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder with Military Veterans, Concussions and Traumatic Brain Injuries for NFL Players (which would then make treatment more readily accepted and available to all, especially children), Autism, Dolphin Assisted Therapy and many others
  • Continuing to develop and explore the possibilities and applications of CranioSacral Therapy and related modalities

So please join us in our Heal it Forward Campaign and help us keep Dr. John’s dreams alive.
