As I sit here in the icy depths of winter looking out on the pristine snow blanketing my world, my mind drifts to how my energy naturally responds at this time of year when I step out my door into the biting winds and bitter cold.
Extreme cold can make us shiver and recoil. Kind of like fear can...
It can also catapult us into action. Kind of like fear can...
Extreme cold can wake us up and get our adrenaline pumping. Kind of like fear can...
Too much cold can freeze us and kill us. Kind of like fear can...
This time of year can bring into focus any fear, or its lesser but-still-crippling cousin anxiety. And in doing so, offer us an opportunity to choose something different.
If we recognize it.
If we have the energy, skills and tools to meet it effectively.
And possibly, in certain circumstances, harness it to get us started down a more optimal route for our soul’s journey.
I was working with a client recently who had just completed the Release and Renewal training with us in early January and her intention setting for the coming year was potent and true.
She shared that as soon as it was written, clarified, spoken out loud and activated, her old fears and anxiety tried to creep back in.
She shared that in the past she would have spun out into the ethers of limiting thoughts about how she was not enough – in fact downright defective at times – and unable to step into something so big and wonderful as her clear intention for this next chapter of her life...
However, this time, when her fear came creeping back in with its icy fingers ready to disable her, she recognized it almost immediately.
The old familiar tightness in her chest, the heavy coldness in her body, the confusion in her thoughts about what was happening.
And while this level of anxiety felt familiar and oddly normal to her, it was no longer comfortable.
So she chose something different – something new.
She read over and meditated on her clear, beautiful intention and felt her Soul’s energy start to arise within her body – offering her the first wisps of energy to meet her fear.
She then grounded and filled
Following that she did the Lunar Breath practice that down-regulates the nervous system.
As she did these tried-and-true practices she felt life’s flow moving through her from deep in her bones all the way out to her skin and beyond.
Offering her opportunities to take a different path.
As her thoughts cleared some new - and some well-used - resources popped into her consciousness and she jotted them down and planned how she could take actions in a more optimal direction.
Conversations she wanted to do differently now.
Directions she wanted to head in for the future.
As she and I spoke in our session, the questions I asked her, and my suggestions became another resource for her path forward. Concepts we discussed - based on loving herself - expanded her horizon and the energy flow in her body.
When we were done, her system felt relaxed and ready to meet her new intention in all its glory...
And I took a moment to reflect within myself on my own journey...
What did I need to recognize and meet my own icy cold fingers of fear?
What steps was I ready to take to move through it and back onto my Soul’s path fully?
And you?
