Our new community dock in the early morning light ❤️
Creating Together
This month’s newsletter is dedicated to all of you who are continuing to create and build in your world – taking positive, life affirming actions even as the world around us is growing extremely challenging in many ways.
Today, I am highlighting my sweetheart, Phil who stepped up and took the lead for the rebuilding of our community dock here on Lake Audubon last Saturday.
In the weeks leading up to it, he organized the materials, put out the call and gathered a team of community members - and in one day - they transformed our rotting old dock into a solid new structure. Sistering all the old joists, working together when a rotten piling was discovered, and replacing the surface with new lumbar that should last us another decade and beyond.
Those of us supporting them brought water and provided lunch, and Advil for an achy back or two, and then stood back and told them what an amazing team they were. I think I said WOW about a dozen times at different points in the day, in absolute amazement at what they were accomplishing together.

What touched me most was that everyone came together for the good of our community – each bringing their gifts and talents (and in this case, their tools) to share with the team. Everyone worked hard – not knowing exactly how the process would unfold or how long it would take – they all simply committed to going the distance together and they did - neighbors gathering to make our community a safer, better place to live.
This kind of action in the face of the challenges and chaos in our world right now – can be a template for all of us, when things feel overwhelming and we may find ourselves feeling paralyzed or helpless to do anything positive...
Every day I reflect on my own gifts and talents and whether they are being shared optimally in my world.
I ask myself, what is mine to do today?
I would ask you now – what actions can you take that would move the world in a more coherent, healing direction?
What is yours to do today?
